    A port worker was killed in a forklift accident in Savannah last Wednesday, according to the AJC. The woman, a member of the International Longshoremen’s Association Local 1475, was struck by a forklift at Georgia Ports’ Ocean Terminal near a bulk carrier ship that had recently arrived from Wilmington, NC. She was 57 years old.

    A worker in Alpharetta was taken to the hospital for injuries that resulted from a garbage truck towing a trailer striking his utility truck.  The worker was displaced 20 feet from the bucket attached to the utility truck. The utility worker is expected to make a full recovery.

    The driver of the garbage truck called police the next day to report that he was involved, but did not realize he hit anything until he noticed the damage. The accident took place at the intersection of Haynes Bridge Road and Old Milton Parkway.

    The utility worker was taken to a hospital for treatment of broken bones and is expected to recover.

    Two men working on the exterior of apartment homes in Atlanta were killed. The accident occurred when the two workers attempted to reposition the 80-foot lift they were utilizing, which then fell onto a concrete walkway.

    Both men were transported to local hospitals, where they later died. The men were reportedly killed by the fall, not crushed by the machine.

    Late Tuesday night, an employee of Georgia Power Co. was electrocuted after coming in contact with a live line. He was part of a team trying to repair a power line connection that went down due to weather conditions.

    Officials reported the accident occurred along U.S. 82, just east of Brookfield. A manager with Georgia Power stated that the employee had over 20 years of experience as a lineman.

    Recently New York officials reported the death of a construction worker from Vermont, who died from accidental injuries. The accident occurred on a construction site in northern New York.

    The worker was injured while operating an auger, or large drilling device, as he worked to install a pipe with a 3-foot-diameter.  Unfortunately, while operating the drill, the construction worker was thrown to the ground and pinned there by the auger.
