One man was killed and another was injured in a fiery accident that occurred on I-75 near Cartersville Sunday afternoon. A portion of the interstate was closed for almost 10 hours while the fire burned itself out, according to the AJC.

On Sunday, the driver of a pickup truck apparently crossed the median of the road, crashing headlong into a tractor trailer that was headed south. The driver of the pickup truck, a Kennesaw man, was killed. The driver of the tractor trailer, a man from Indiana, suffered serious burns.

Early Tuesday morning, three people were injured in an accident that involved a MARTA bus. The accident happened on Moreland Avenue at Euclid Avenue in Atlanta, according to the AJC.

The accident occurred when another driver collided with the MARTA bus, stated a MARTA spokeswoman. The three passengers on the bus who were injured were taken to Atlanta Medical Center.

More than a dozen cars and six tractor-trailers were involved in a major wreck on I-75 in Florida.  Some vehicles burst into flames. 10 people were killed and 18 individuals were hospitalized as a result. Although the names of the victims have not all been released, there has been a report that several members of a local Marietta church died in the crash.

The wreck occurred early Sunday morning on both sides of I-75.  Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accidents.

I-285 was shut down after a crash that resulted in the death of two individuals. DeKalb County officials are still looking for the driver of the tractor-trailer this may have caused the crash.

The tractor-trailer is believed to have struck another vehicle, causing the driver of that vehicle to lose control and hit another vehicle. The tractor-trailer driver then fled the scene of the accident. According to the Colorado State Patrol, a passenger van carrying 13 people struck the back of a tractor trailer on the highway.  The accident killed the driver and five of his foster children. Seven other individuals were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Richmond County officials reported a fatal tractor trailer accident on I-20. The driver lost control of the tractor trailer, which went over a bridge and into the Augusta Canal on Friday. The cause of the accident has yet to be determined.

The tractor trailer driver was trapped in the cab of the truck, which was completely submerged under water. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

A tractor trailer collided into a bridge support column and burst into flames in South Carolina. Two people inside the tractor trailer were killed.

The crash took place in a northbound lane of I-85.  The South Carolina Department of Transportation reports the Interstate will be closed to northbound traffic for days.  Officials are still determining the strength of the bridge involved in the fatal crash.

That was the case with a recent tractor trailer accident right here in Atlanta.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, 2010, a two- year-old died while sitting in a parked car when a semi trailer truck lost control and crashed into his parents’ vehicle. The truck accident occurred in a parking lot at an Auto Zone just off Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway.

The out-of-control semi trailer truck slammed into three parked cars in the store’s lot. The trucker lost control of the tractor trailer when a car crossed over the center line into his lane in oncoming traffic.

Two-year-old Zion Curney and his 14-year-old cousin were in one of the parked cars. The two children were waiting for one of their parents shopping in the Auto Zone store.

The driver, Kelly Canty, who hit the tractor trailer, was charged on Tuesday. Canty was charged with vehicular homicide, reckless driving, failure to maintain her lane, and driving without a license, insurance or tag.

Investigators have yet to determine why Canty crossed the center line of Hollowell Parkway ultimately leading to the deadly chain reaction collision. The trucking accident still remains under investigation.
